HYPO MANIA - CAUSED BY FABRIC MANIA

I think I am in a state of - no not mania - but hypo mania - at least experiencing the not sleeping thing and the increased energy thing! :-) And I am fully functioning too! Yes, very much so!

"Individuals in a hypo manic state have a decreased need for sleep, are extremely outgoing and competitive, and have a great deal of energy. However, unlike with full mania, those with hypo manic symptoms are often fully functioning."

My hypo mania was caused by a present from a dear friend, who is a terrific potter, and, believe it, a masterly quilter as well. She gave me a huge plastic bag full of the most colorful and explosive fabric remnants you can imagine! A real fire work! See for your self:

Actually I am a very tidy person. I got this in my genes from my father - Ordnung muss sein! But look at my workroom! Just zoom in and see the balagan!
(Balagan = a word in modern Hebrew for chaos or fiasco, for a messy, untidy state or place)

Aren't those scraps hilarious?

(Hilarious = from Greek hilaros, characterized by or causing great merriment, uproarious, happy, gay, jolly, joyous, cheerful joyful, jovial, mirthful.)

Hm, maybe they made me nevertheless a bit maniac? I am sewing fiercely using this intoxicating textiles to create something pretty, lovely and practical - and NO I don't clean up in between! I am too excited! Ha, this is going on for several days now. And nights! I get up in the middle of them, after four or five hours of sleep, because I wake up from a dream of woven pieces in all the colors of a rainbow dancing and luring me! And I tiptoe in my nightgown downstairs to my sewing room...

Only my back makes me stop after some hours, it is still hard to sit too long on this chair, bent over the sewing machine, or standing, cutting and ironing. The remnants are mostly strips and I just piece them together in a pleasing manner - I love doing this, playing with all those colors and textures. I am not taking any fabric from my own stash. I am determined to use the material from this gift exclusively for my little projects.
Tomorrow, or the next days, I will show you some results. There is nothing particularly exciting about it, just nice enjoyable useful things...

Liebe Yael,

I'm awfully happy to read that you are able to work for a few hours -- of course, your back cannot be in a perfect condition, but it looks as if it was getting better. Hoffentlich!

Oh, Yael, I smiled to imagine you frantically keep sewing. After seeing so many fabulous fabric, it would be no wonder for a sewing freak to get hooked on creative works. You are happy to have a room to keep it balagan till you can stop yourself. Take care of your back and have happy sewing days ahead!
