THE BLACK LAKE - CRNO JEZERO MONTENEGRO

The morning of this day was cool and promised rain. It did not stop us from visiting Crno Jezero, the black glacial lake in the Durmitor Park in the midst of forested mountains, not far from the town of Zabljak.
There is a 20 minute walk from the parking spot to the lake, and it was dripping already, so we took our small and fragile umbrellas with us...

The lake really looked black, at least in this weather - but even more magnificent...
And then the rain really started to pour down - it made the water of the lake ripple.
Now the rain drummed upon us... Time to walk back to the car...

The umbrellas got wrecked by the strong wind, we got wet all over - BUT it was a great adventure, we would not have missed it at all!

Photos taken from deep down under the umbrella by my husband Uri Eshkar.

Hi Yael! :) I just caught up with your blog after the busy exciting days of preparing for the exhibition and then the exhibition itself...
What a wonderful trip you've had, and the photos are amazing!!! Thank you for this virtual trip to a wonderful country that I've never been to and that's not well known yet... The Mediterranean always leaves me breathless!

This looks like such a beautiful place - that lake is amazing - there is something wonderful about coming across a hidden lake after a walk. I'm sure the rain only added to the whole atmosphere of finding this lake.

Don't tell me this is Loch Ness, the color of the water would make me believe it. This lake might be quite deep, I guess. -- How good you took umbrellas with you.

Just looked it up. The smaller of the 2 lakes is 49 m deep, that's nothing, compared with Loch Ness. Love the pictures!

Eva, a lot of fir trees grow on the shoreline and I think their reflection makes the water look black.

We had only tiny travel umbrellas - after this adventure they had to be thrown away - but that was worth it! :-)

Thank you all for commenting - I love to hear you!
