THE ANSWER IS: COTTON FLOWER

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton

The cotton fields are blooming now very beautifully here in Israel, those photos were taken last weekend.
Next month we will show you pictures of the fields with the cotton balls which grow out of the flowers. This one here is from Wikipedia.

Good guess Anna! :-)

Liebe Yael,

ich habe Baumwolle noch nie am Strauch gesehen. Ich glaube, die wächst hier bei uns auch gar nicht, höchstens im Gewächshaus.

Liebe Grüße
Jutta

Yes, this is the way we usually know cotton from pictures... recognizing it as a flower was not that easy, but your hints helped! ;)
Enjoy your week and have a lovely August, dear Yael!

Have a great new week, and a lovely August!

By the way, Yael, I see the first comment by "Landbohaven" is written in Danish.
It says: "Pretty. I had a look around, thank you."
