SOME THOUGHTS

Just now, in the evening, before falling asleep, I read Short Stories by Anton Chekhov, again...
Yesterday I came upon this phrase: "If there were not hatred and malice, people would be of enormous benefit to each other." (Rothschild's Fiddle) It got me thinking a lot after closing my eyes and the thoughts got carried over into a dream. A dream about people living without jealousy, but with generosity, without feelings of revenge, but with forgiveness or at least of letting it be, without egoism but with sharing, of people living with good will and open hearts for each other. People who don't manipulate each other and don't control but only guide each other, and respect each other. People who search for the good in each other and do not only look for the faults. A dream about people who provide critiques in a helpful, not in a hurtful way and give advise only if asked to give. About people who are interested in each other, who try to understand each other, who care and give comfort. And I could see how wonderful that would be! The rewards would be bountiful and plenty, the compensation priceless. So much negative energy could be channeled into positive vibes! Yes, people WOULD be of enormous benefit to each other! With no malice but kindness, with no hatred but affection, creativity would blossom much more and many more smiles would be seen and laughter be heard!
I wish, this would not be only a dream! Maybe it can be accomplished in each of our private lives, each day a little bit - and next day some more...
Just now my son looked over my shoulder and had a glimpse of what I wrote. He likes Scatman and he found for me this song on youtube:
"Imagine a land of love, where people have time to care, where everybody is equal and we all tell the truth. If you are wondering where this magical place is, you don't have to look too far, you find it between your deepest dreams and warmest wishes..."

Bernstein

Oh, Uri, that's so nice...and in it's own way, it's humorous...because I can hear you sing it!

Beautiful sentiments and dream, Yael!

If it were only that way...

What a wonderful dream, Yael! If it only were so.

I agree, it would be wonderful. But then there can be good in conflict too. If it was all so easy, and so lovely, would there be any fire in our bellies? Would we strive to improve ourselves? Would we learn from our mistakes? Would we all be carbon copies of each other?

I could have fire in my belly without hatred and malice from others! Of course there is conflict, there will always be, that is exactly the issue: How to deal with the conflict!
Wow, if we could all sit together in a group and discuss this, that would be so interesting!
I think, the point is not to go on dreaming about this, but just to be aware and not to miss opportunities to be good to each other! Or at least to back off and let each other be in peace! Checkhov has more to say about it in this story: "Why could man not live so there would not be all this waste and loss? Why was the common left unused? Why did people always do exactly what they should not do?"
A lot of material for thought....

Well said. I completely agree. Would that we could all sit and discuss. Brilliant topic, Yael. Thanks for getting the ball rolling like this for us>
