COLORS AND SHAPES

We have a lot of fruit packaging houses here, especially in the Galilee and at the Golan Heights, where Jews and Druze grow cherries, apples, peaches, pears, pomegranates, apricots and some more. To drive in those regions in spring, when the fruit gardens are in bloom is a real delight. And harvest time brings another pleasure, because there are stalls along the streets where the ripe fruit, fresh picked from the trees behind the stall, can be bought from the same people who grew them and attended to them.

But there is something else I like. It is seeing the boxes for transporting the fruit to the markets, in all their colors and shapes in the yards of the packaging houses. And often I ask my husband to stop the car so I can take photos. I thought I share some of them here - I have so many, how can I choose?  

Most of all I love the ones made from wooden planks and  hold together with iron frames. The iron rusts and the wood is peeling and more colors are showing through. The longer the boxes are exposed to the weather, the better they look! I am quite sure the painters among you would like to use some of those as backgrounds!
